Shadow/Shaddow

Yesterday we had to euthanize our dear dog Shaddy. He was diagnosed with kidney failure about a year and a half ago, so this development was not a surprise, just disappointing. He also had Cushing’s disease for a number of years. Last week he quit eating his dog food, then gradually quit eating everything; no treats, no lettuce, no apple, no bananas with peanut butter, and finally no tomatoes, Friday evening Shadow was trying to vomit when he fell over and couldn’t get himself up. By Saturday morning he could no longer walk – just too weak.

The people at the veterinarian’s office we took him to were very thoughtful and kind. They let us hold him and coo to him while he died. It was very peaceful. He will be cremated and his ashes spread at Rialto Beach.

We already miss him terribly, but we had 13 special years with him. Goodbye, Shaddy.
