Yesterday Paddy and I visited Rooster Cogburn’s Ostrich Ranch, which is near Picacho Peak State Park here in Arizona. It was a fun experience with lots of animals. We fed some sort of pellets to burros, fallow deer, floppy-eared goats and ostriches; peanuts to prairie dogs; another type of pellets to geese; and special nectar to lorikeets (they were the best part of the experience).
Lorikeets are little parrot-like birds with beautiful
colors. They come and land on your
hands, arms, shoulders and head when they see that you have a container of
their nectar. So cute. Unfortunately, they were the last animals we
saw, and just as we entered their enclosure my camera batteries gave up. I quickly put in my back-up batteries, but
they were dead too. So, no lorikeet pics
for me. Paddy got a lot of shots so if

By the way, today is our 36th wedding
anniversary. We will celebrate by going out
to dinner this evening to a nice (expensive) restaurant called Be Dillon’s. Yum!
