We left home this morning after a brief delay to fill the tires in Uncle Joe with a little ore air. We had the wheel bearings re-packed a few weeks ago and expected the tires to be properly inflated. But this morning as we began to pull out I mentioned that the tires looked low. Paddy checked the pressure and confirmed my diagnosis. So he got out the air compressor and boosted the pressure. It didn’t cause a long delay and we felt better about taking off.
Our trip today was uneventful. We ate lunch at a rest stop in Oregon and made it to Hermiston’s Pioneer RV Park in time for toddies. Our slot here is a pull-through and is long enough that we didn’t need to unhook the Beast. That will save us some time in the morning as we head out for Boise. This is a very nice park with real grass between the sites (you may remember that is a real perk for me).
But we have had one glitch. While dinner was cooking I turned on the hot water heater. No light indicating that it was working, either on electricity or gas. However, after flicking the switch a few times and waiting awhile, we found that the hot water heater works on gas, even though the light never comes on. Fun. We had a problem with the hot water heater on our shake-down trip right after we bought Uncle Joe. Hope this isn’t an on-going weakness in the system.
