Hot at Zion

We are in Virgin, UT, now – not far from Zion National Park. Our campground is called Zion River Resort, and it is on the Virgin River, which is the one that runs through Zion. Before coming here we spent a night at Lakewood RV Campground in Provo. It was a homey place with grass, trees, cable TV and Wi-Fi. Not bad. This one is much nicer looking, and much more expensive, but without cable TV. Really pretty though.

After setting up Uncle Joe yesterday, we took a drive into a part of Zion that has a lot of hiking trails. It was glorious, with red rock formations in every direction.

Paddy has gone to visit the main part of Zion today. They have closed the road to private vehicles except in the winter, and visitors are required to ride shuttle buses up and down the scenic drive, getting off at various stops along the way to take pictures, hike, picnic, etc. But, of course, Shadow isn’t allowed on the buses, so I stayed home with him today to catch up on laundry and housekeeping in Uncle Joe and sent Paddy out to scout out the best picture spots. I’ll go to the park tomorrow and leave him here to edit his pics. Shad is pretty happy with the arrangement.

Oh, but it is really hot here. It was in the 90’s when we arrived yesterday afternoon. Cooled down to the high 60’s in the night. So glad to have air conditioning.
