Our real purpose in going was to check out RV parks around Indio for next year. It turned out there was only one that we would care to stay in, and it was very expensive. We’ll keep it in mind for a possible month next year. I liked it more than Paddy did. As you might have guessed, it has grass and trees.
A couple of the RV parks we visited were near some huge windmills and the wind was blowing like crazy. We were worried about the parks being too windy, but the people in the office said it isn’t usually like that. They may have been telling the truth because when we got back to Rio Bend, we could see that the wind had been blowing very hard here too.
On our way to Indio, we stopped off to see the Salton Sea, which is a large salt water lake just east of Indio, located directly on the San Andreas Fault. It had a sandy beach just like the ocean, and it smelled like the ocean.
When we got back to Rio Bend, we were just in time to attend a welcome party with free Mexican food. Since we had Mexican food for lunch, we celebrated by having some more. We are meeting lots of people but not making any new best friends. Everyone here is at least 55 (that’s a rule), which is an interesting experience for us.
