Yesterday, we drove only about 40 miles to Winchester Lake State Park, just outside of Winchester, ID. It is much cooler here than anywhere else in this area. There are lots of trees and a nice lake (although the water has some sort of green scum at the edge where we are). We are spending two nights here; we are tired of traveling every day as we have done since leaving the Tetons. We have a nice view of the woods from the back window of Uncle Joe, and we are taking it very easy today. No Wi-Fi, so don’t know when this will be posted. There is a library in the town of Winchester, but it is not open today.

Today we came to Tucannon River RV Park near Starbuck, WA. Starbuck, WA? Who ever heard of that? The closest larger towns are Pomeroy and Dayton, and they don’t seem to be much either. But, we are also close to Palouse Falls State Park, and Paddy has had a hankering to visit Palouse Falls for a long time.
We drove to the falls for a little afternoon outing. They are impressive, but the sun was in the wrong position for good pictures. Paddy started making noises about going back either early this evening or early tomorrow morning. It is a day park, open from 6:30 am till dusk.
Our campground is pretty nice, with lots of beautiful grass between the camp sites. There is no cable TV, and no antenna reception, so we will probably watch a video tonight. They say they have internet connection through DSL in the office, but so far there has not been anyone in the office for us to check it out. We checked ourselves in at a pay station outside the office. We’ll see if we get to send our messages this evening.
It’s pretty windy here. Hope nothing blows away.
